Silencing the Noise: Using Magnitude Threshold
When you are mixing a live show, the “Reference” signal (your console output) is constantly changing in level. During quiet passages, Smaart might try to calculate a Transfer Function using background noise, resulting in a “messy” trace.
The Solution
In Transfer Function Options, set Magnitude Threshold to an absolute level (commonly around -40 to -50 dBFS, default is -70 dBFS). When the measured signal falls below this threshold, Smaart stops updating the Transfer Function and holds the last valid data, helping keep traces stable during quiet sections or transitions.
