Description
Smaart Z2H – Live Sound System Tuning Seminar
Z2H – Practical System Tuning in Real Acoustic Spaces
A four-day, hands-on training focused on tonal balance, loudspeaker interaction, and efficient system tuning.
Smaart Z2H is designed for live sound engineers and system technicians who want to develop practical measurement and tuning skills in a real venue using a typical theatre or club sound system in a large acoustic space. The course builds naturally on the concepts introduced in the Smaart Online Seminar or equivalent experience, bridging the gap between theory and real-world application.
Course structure:
-
Days 1–2: Core system theory at a practical pace. Participants learn the principles behind frequency response, phase interaction, and cancellation patterns using clear, layman-friendly language.
-
Days 3–4: Hands-on measurement and tuning exercises, focusing on tonal balance, loudspeaker placement, and cancellation patterns. Workflows are designed to identify and solve issues efficiently using Smaart.
-
Last day: Workbench-style scenarios with in-ear monitors (IEMs), microphones, and other hardware. Participants learn to quickly identify faulty units, tonal anomalies, and calibration issues — often in under a minute. SPL measurement and safe listening practices are included, referencing WHO guidelines for a safe listening environment.
Key features:
- Hands-on sessions in a real acoustic space
- Small group format to ensure individual attention
- Focus on practical workflows and repeatable techniques
- Language: English or Norwegian (depending on participants*)
- Limited seats to maximize learning
Who this course is for:
- Live sound engineers and system technicians
- Engineers looking to move from theoretical understanding to practical system control
- Participants of the Smaart Online Seminar or those with equivalent experience
Why Smaart Z2H works:
- Focus on the most important aspects of system tuning
- Applies measurement concepts directly in realistic scenarios
- Teaches how to work efficiently under real-world constraints
