Description
The TX-3 from MELLab is a professional measurement microphone developed for precise acoustic measurements and sound system analysis. It is an omni-directional, pre-polarized condenser microphone with a free-field frequency response and highly stable sensitivity—ideal as a reliable reference tool.
Designed for maximum flexibility, the TX-3 is fitted with a TA4-F connector, allowing direct connection to the bodypack transmitters of many wireless microphone systems for a practical, cable-free measurement setup. Note: overall performance depends on the wireless system in use.
At the core of the TX-3 is a versatility-driven concept: the capsule’s three terminals are routed directly to the output connector, with no internal electronics in the signal path. With the appropriate interface, this enables a wide range of applications. When paired with the MELLab AC-2 active cable, the TX-3 becomes a conventional 48 V phantom-powered microphone, delivering performance equivalent to the MELLab MYc‑3. Using simple adapter cables, it can also be connected to virtually any input type. Supplied from an unbalanced preamplifier with 2–10 V DC, it is perfectly suited for laboratory work, recording studios, hi-fi applications, and DIY projects.
Compact, robust, and extremely adaptable, the TX-3 works equally well as a mobile microphone on a wireless bodypack during system setup, or as a fixed reference microphone at FOH via the AC-2 active cable. One microphone—ready for virtually any measurement task.
